From a young age, Nancy has had many different interests and talents. Instead of choosing a particular area, she always tried to taste a bit of everything. So when she had a hard time choosing between studying Civil Engineer, Economics or Roman languages, she decided to find a combination and did a Masters in Business, Engineering and IT, adding 3 foreign languages on top. Fate took her to the University of Antwerp, where she met the love of her life and soul mate, Tom Bervoets.
She also learned to spread her wings and fly to discover other parts of the world as soon as she got the opportunity. During her studies, she spent an exchange year in France and did an internship at SAP in Germany. In Germany, she had the opportunity to start at a great company, Procter and Gamble, where she learned a lot about leadership, teamwork and principles based management and had some of the best role models and mentors for her later career. After spending a year in Mexico, becoming fluent in Spanish, and leading several European wide software implementation programs, she switched to HP and discovered the consulting world.
Fast forward to 2007, just before the financial crisis, she had a chance to move to the Big Apple and took it with both hands. This started her career in business development for large IT programs and eventually senior leadership positions leading industry business units across the Americas.
In the mean time, she married her soul mate, had 2 beautiful kids and started looking for her true calling in life. Thinking about her career, she remembered that her most fun moments were when she could coach teams and mentor people. Serendipity had her path cross with that of Yves through the “Belgian connection” in New York and she got inspired by the story and vision of Herculean as a company. After helping to organize the US Hercules Trophy in 2015, she was hooked and ready to spread the Herculean vibe across North America.
Nancy has a passion for languages (she is trying to learn Mandarin with her daughter, after mastering Spanish, French, German, English and Dutch) and loves reading books. She is also an enthusiastic scuba diver and avid sailor. She lives in Brooklyn, NY with her family; the streets of her neighborhood, DUMBO, are lined with Belgian blocks, a reminder of her roots.
To describe her in a sentence: a multi-potential cosmopolitan, loving life as mom, foodie and sailor, passionate about teamwork, leadership and on a mission to help others reaching their full potential.
Her favorite quote: “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain
